About Me
Welcome to ItsATeresaThing.com.
My name is Teresa, and this space is where I am beginning to tell the parts of my story that were once quiet, hidden, or hard to explain.
I am an adoptee, and like many adoptees, my story is layered with love, loss, questions, gratitude, grief, identity, and healing. Adoption is often spoken about as a beautiful ending. Still, for many of us, it is also the beginning of a lifelong search — for truth, for belonging, for our roots, and sometimes for the parts of ourselves we were never given words for.
This blog is dedicated to my adoption story, adoptee voices, closed adoption, the Baby Scoop Generation, and the emotional journey of understanding where we come from and who we are.
For years, there were missing pieces. Missing names. Missing history. Missing answers. But I believe every adoptee’s story matters — even the complicated parts, even the painful parts, even the parts that take a lifetime to understand.
Here, I want to create a gentle and honest place for reflection. A place for truth without shame. A place for grief and gratitude to sit at the same table. A place where adoptees can feel seen, heard, and less alone.
ItsATeresaThing.com is my way of opening the box, unfolding the papers, pulling up the empty chair, and giving voice to the story behind the silence.
This is not just a blog about finding people.
It is also about finding myself.
With love,
Teresa
